
An On-Campus Experience of Harvard Medical School’s Approach to Evidence-Based Well-Being
The Lifestyle Medicine and Wellness Coaching Immersion from Harvard Medical School Executive Education is a two-day, on-campus program that helps health and wellness coaches, clinicians, and health enthusiasts apply the science of lifestyle medicine to enhance physical, emotional, and mental health and overall well-being. With the increasing demands of modern life, stress, poor nutrition, and chronic fatigue have become barriers to living and performing at our best. This immersion provides a structured, evidence-based path to restoring balance, empowering you to make sustainable lifestyle changes that nurture both the body and mind for long-term good health.
You will explore the six pillars of lifestyle medicine: nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress resilience, social connection, and the avoidance of risky substances. Guided by Dr. Elizabeth Frates, MD, FACLM, DipABLM, and a distinguished panel of guest speakers, this experience blends expert lectures, collaborative learning, and hands-on learning through cooking demonstrations and exercise activities. Over two immersive days, this experience will equip you to guide clients or patients toward lasting change; integrate wellness science into products, programs, or businesses; and lead meaningful wellness transformation across your home, workplace, and community, empowering healthier lives across every setting.
Note: This program does not grant academic credit and does not provide certification as a professional coach. This non-degree program offers a certificate of completion to participants who meet the program requirements.

Participants will engage in interactive discussions, hands-on activities, and problem-solving tasks that simulate real-world nutrition and wellness coaching program applications. These group sessions offer opportunities to share diverse perspectives, deepen your understanding of key concepts, and apply what you have learned in a supportive and engaging environment.
What level of physical activity is expected during the experiential sessions?
Physical activity during the experiential sessions is optional and designed to be gentle and accessible to all participants. Activities, including group walks or movement exercises, can be adapted to your comfort level — you are welcome to participate at your own pace. There will be no high-intensity workouts or strenuous exercise required. Our goal is to create inclusive movement opportunities that promote well-being and help improve health outcomes while respecting diverse abilities and preferences.
Are there any pre-readings, videos, or resources that participants should review before attending?
There are no prerequisites for this on-campus program. However, there may be a small selection of required or optional pre-readings shared before the on-campus program to help you get the most out of your experience.
Are there networking or social connection opportunities built into the agenda?
Yes, networking and social connections are an integral part of the on-campus program experience. Participants are encouraged to engage throughout the program, especially during dedicated events, including breakfasts, refreshment breaks, and interactive activities. These opportunities foster meaningful conversations, peer learning, and professional relationships among nutrition and wellness coaches, health coaches, registered dietitians, nurses, and other professionals in the wellness field, as well as enthusiasts and other attendees. In addition to informal connections, select sessions may include structured group discussions and reflective exercises to help strengthen your network and support ongoing collaboration after the program concludes.
Should participants bring any personal items (e.g., exercise clothes, yoga mats, notebooks)?
Please feel free to bring any personal items that would enhance your learning experience, including a notebook or comfort items. However, there is no need to bring exercise clothes, yoga mats, or special equipment — no specific workout attire is required for this nutrition and wellness coaching on-campus program.
Is there an official dress code for sessions or evening functions?
We recommend business casual attire, similar to what you would wear to an executive education program. Outfits should be professional but comfortable for full-day participation.
Are there any dietary or cultural considerations for the cooking demonstration or the meals served on-site?
Yes, we strive to accommodate dietary and cultural needs. Please inform us in advance of any specific requirements or restrictions, and we will do our best to address your needs during meals and demonstrations related to nutrition and wellness coaching.
Will there be any physical activity or wellness practices during the event?
Yes, the on-campus program includes opportunities for gentle physical activity and health and wellness practices. Participation is optional and designed to be enjoyable for everyone, supporting overall well-being and long-term lifestyle success.
How will registration confirmations and logistics details be sent to participants?
Upon successful registration and payment, participants will receive a registration confirmation via email and access to the program’s online learning portal. Are discounts available to past participants?
Past learners who have successfully completed or are currently enrolled in select Harvard Medical School Executive Education programs* offered in collaboration with Emeritus (including or related program learning journeys) are eligible to avail a tuition assistance benefit of USD 500. A special tuition assistance code will be shared via email with eligible participants.

Are meals, travel, or accommodations covered by the registration fee?
Travel and accommodations are the responsibility of each participant and are not included in the registration fee. However, the program does provide a light breakfast, snacks, and lunch each day as part of registration.
What are the learner’s obligations regarding visa eligibility and travel requirements for the on-campus component?
If the on-campus component takes place in a country other than the learner’s place of residence, the learner is responsible for ensuring that:
They are eligible to travel to the host country and are not subject to any known visa restrictions that would prevent them from entering
They have reviewed and understand the latest entry requirements, screening procedures, and visa or immigration processes for the host country
How does visa denial or travel restriction impact participation in the on-campus visit?
The on-campus component is mandatory for the program, and failure to attend will result in ineligibility to complete the program or receive a certificate of completion. No refunds will be issued in such cases.
What is the policy on cancellations or refunds if a learner cannot take the program?
Withdrawal due to non-delivery of the program: Emeritus will notify learners in writing if: (a) the program will not commence on the scheduled program commencement date (b) the program will not be completed by the scheduled completion date (c) the learner does not meet the program entry or matriculation requirement as set by Emeritus or the university
In such cases, Emeritus will refund 100% of the program fees previously paid by the learner.
Withdrawal for other reasons: If a learner wishes to withdraw from the program for any reason other than those listed above, the learner shall request a withdrawal from Emeritus atleast twenty (20) calendar days before the program start date. Please note that:
All withdrawal requests must be sent in writing within the specified timelines to admissions@emeritus.org
No refunds will be granted in the event of denial of entry to the host country for whatever reason
No refunds will be granted if the withdrawal request is received after the specified timeline
All refunds will be paid directly to the original payer only
Emeritus will use commercially reasonable efforts to process refunds within seven (7) working days of receiving the withdrawal request from the learner
